📋 People Who Made Our History

Pedro Albizu Campos was a very important Puerto Rican political leader and lawyer. He was born on September 12, 1891, in Ponce and studied law at Harvard University. Albizu Campos is known for being one of the main advocates for Puerto Rico's independence. He firmly believed that Puerto Rico should be a free and sovereign country, and he dedicated his life to fighting for that cause, serving as the president of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and organizing many protests against the U.S. government.

Albizu Campos spoke several languages and served in the United States Army during World War I, but his true passion was always politics. Despite his peaceful struggle, he was arrested several times and spent many years in prison, where his health deteriorated greatly. Albizu Campos is a highly respected figure in Puerto Rico for his courage and dedication to independence. He died on April 21, 1965, but his legacy lives on in the island, reminding us of the importance of fighting for our rights and freedom.
