You think it's Puerto Rico? 🤔

TOGETHER WITH

Hello Isla Flow friend! 🌴☀️

Welcome to your lifestyle and events newsletter for Puerto Rico, crafted with love by your pals Alicia and Justin—in 5 minutes or less. 😊

How’s everyone doing today? Lots of rain? Do you have your storm kit ready? Let's hope nothing happens, just a lot of rain, and that LUMA doesn’t vanish. 🌧️💡

😜 On a different note to lighten things up... this midweek "find" is pretty interesting: Do you know which country has the foulest language in the world? You’ll be surprised because it’s not Puerto Rico. 😂

Let’s get started!

Today on Isla Flow:

🎭 Theater in 15 - Puerto Rican plays, each lasting 15 minutes

🍸 Luxury Bartending and live music

 WD40 for cleaning your appliances

🧳 Experiences or material things? - A study reveals what makes people happier

Together with Wine Chips

THE BOLDEST, CHEESIEST, AND MOST SATISFYING CHIPS YOU'LL FIND

We created Wine Chips because we love wine and cheese (who doesn’t?). But putting cheese directly into the wine wasn't the best idea.

So, one night in 2017, while enjoying a glass of wine (or two), we started thinking about something simple, portable, snackable, cheesy, and delicious.

And that's how Wine Chips were born (okay, after a lot of work, many samples, and advisors). Click here to place your order of Wine Chips for your next party.

📋 Raining? Time for the Museum!

One of the best things about living in Puerto Rico is the easy access to multiple museums. Each with its own unique characteristics, events, workshops, and special activities throughout the year. Here are some of the best ones for you to visit!

  1. Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR) - This treasure is in Santurce and is like a chest full of Puerto Rican art, from the 17th century to the present. Plus, the gardens are beautiful, and they always have interesting exhibitions.

  2. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC) - Also in Santurce, this is the place for modern and cool art. It’s housed in a beautiful old building, and the art here often tackles important themes, so it opens your eyes and inspires you.

  3. Museo Casa Blanca - Located in Old San Juan, this place is super historic—it was built in 1521! It was originally intended for the family of Juan Ponce de León. Walking through here feels like traveling back in time, and the views of the bay are impressive.

  4. Museo de Las Américas - In the heart of Old San Juan, this museum focuses on the rich blend of cultures that make up the Americas. It’s inside a beautiful Spanish colonial building, so the place itself is epic.

  5. Museo de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (Museo UPR) - In Río Piedras, this museum is part of the university and has a bit of everything—art, history, literature, you name it. It’s a cool place to explore what Puerto Rican culture is all about, especially from an academic angle.

  6. Museo de Arte de Ponce - This one is in Ponce and is "kind of a big deal," though it's currently undergoing some renovations. They have an incredible collection of European art, especially Baroque and Pre-Raphaelite works, along with some amazing Puerto Rican pieces.

  7. Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar (MADMi) - This is relatively new and super cool. It’s in San Juan and is all about where art meets design. The building itself is a restored old place, and the vibe is super hip and creative, bringing a fresh breath of air into the art world.

📋 People that Make our History

Carlos Arroyo is a well-known Puerto Rican basketball player who’s left a big mark on the sport. Born on July 30, 1979, in Fajardo, he showed incredible talent on the court from a young age. His love for the game eventually took him to the NBA, where he played for teams like the Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat.

One of the highlights of Carlos’s career came during the Athens 2004 Olympics when he led the Puerto Rican national team to a historic win over the United States—something only a few teams have ever done.

Beyond his NBA career, Carlos also played in European leagues and in Puerto Rico’s local basketball scene. He’s always been admired for his charisma and his knack for inspiring others. His success has been a role model for many young athletes dreaming of making it big in sports.

But Carlos isn’t just known for his basketball skills—he’s also made a huge contribution to Puerto Rican culture. He’s always carried the Puerto Rican flag with pride and represented the island wherever he played. His legacy in sports and his impact on the community make him a true Boricua icon.

 🤔 Reflexion

Have you ever wondered if you're spending your money the right way? It turns out that spending on experiences rather than material things might be the key to lasting happiness. Let's explore why creating memories could be your best investment.

Research from the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin has shown that spending your money on experiences rather than things can make you much happier.

Here’s the deal: people who invest in experiences like going to concerts, dining out, or traveling tend to feel happier both in the short and long term compared to those who spend on material items like clothes or electronics.

And get this: no matter how much you spend, the joy that comes from experiences seems to last much longer than the fleeting excitement of buying something new. Researchers believe this is because experiences, unlike objects, tend to create lasting memories and bring more joy over time. So, the next time you think about treating yourself, you might want to consider creating a new memory instead of just adding another item to your closet.

Doesn't that make you rethink how we view happiness and spending?
